5/5
Random House 334 pages February 19, 2018
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University — while she tried to reconcile her new world with the one she left behind.

Jim's jaw was on the ground for most of this book. Tara's story is so wild it reads like fiction, but it's painfully real. The transformation from a girl who'd never seen a classroom to a Cambridge PhD is nothing short of extraordinary. It'll make you grateful for every book you've ever held. A must-read memoir.
